Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and a great way to celebrate is with wine and chocolate! A simple, yet elegant way to spice up the day. Soft velvety wines are a chocolate’s best friend and it’s best to pair both with similar intensities. Less flavorful chocolates pair best with lighter bodied wines, while full flavored chocolates paid best with full bodied wines. Consider other ingredients in chocolates when pairing such as nuts, dried fruit, and caramel. A fruit forward red with red berry undertones pairs nicely with chocolate and dried cranberry.

Pairing Tips

Dark Chocolate pairs well with Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot

Milk Chocolate pairs well with Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Gewürztraminer

White Chocolate pairs well with Moscato, Off Dry Riesling, and Sweeter Rosé

Chocolate Covered Strawberries pair well with Sweet Sparkling Reds, and Lambrusco
